Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER)
The Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program, or T-VER, is an initiative developed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to promote voluntary greenhouse gas reduction in the country. This program aims to incentivize all sectors to participate in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of activities.
T-VER Project Development Guidelines and Methods
TGO has established guidelines and methodologies for developing T-VER projects in several categories:
- Renewable Energy: Utilization of renewable energy or energy that replaces fossil fuels, increasing the efficiency of electricity and heat production.
- Transport: Use of public transportation systems, electric vehicles, and improving engine efficiency.
- Waste Management: Management of solid waste, community wastewater management, methane recovery, and industrial wastewater management.
- Industrial Processes: Substitution of natural refrigerants and the use of clinker substitute materials.
- Land Use – Agriculture & Forestry: Reduction, absorption, and sequestration of greenhouse gases in forestry and agriculture.
- Energy Efficiency: Enhancing energy efficiency in buildings, factories, and households.
- Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCUS): Capturing, storing, and/or utilizing greenhouse gases.
Benefits of Participating in the T-VER Program
Participating in the T-VER program by TGO offers numerous benefits. Not only does it help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but it also provides many other advantages:
- Greenhouse Gas Reduction: Reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming.
- Increasing Carbon Sinks: Enhancing carbon sinks through tree planting, conservation, and forest restoration.
- Operational Reporting: Using carbon credits to report organizational performance.
- Emission Offsetting: Using carbon credits to offset emissions from organizations, products, events, and individuals.
- Trading and Exchange: Utilizing carbon credits for domestic trading and exchange.
- Building a Positive Image: Enhancing the organization’s image and reputation.
